Israel refuses to allow doctors to examine Shalabi

JENIN, (PIC)– The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has refused on Saturday to allow a medical team to check on the health condition of hunger striker Hana’a Shalabi.

The Palestinian prisoner’s committee said in a press release on Sunday that the team grouped local and international doctors and was planning to check on the detainee in Hasharon jail.

The committee said that the team was formed after the IAO refused to check Shalabi’s health or to transfer her to hospital after 18 days of hunger strike despite suffering pains and loss of weight over the past few days.

The committee held the IOA fully responsible for the life of Shalabi, 30, and asked the Red Cross to send doctors to follow up the health condition of the detainee that is daily worsening.

Shalabi has gone on hunger strike to protest her ill-treatment, re-arrest despite being released in a prisoners’ exchange deal, and her subsequent administrative detention, without trial or charge.
