Palestinian prisoner Ala Salah sends will to his family

GAZA CITY (Ma’an) — A 39-year-old Palestinian detainee who says Israeli prison guards poisoned his food has written his will, relatives said Tuesday.

Ala Salah sent his will, his Quran and a comb to his family via released prisoner Rafat Abu Shaluf. In the document, Salah says he has been sick since October and accused Israeli forces of poisoning his food.

Israeli prison authorities have neglected his sickness, he says. He is held in solitary confinement.

Salah, from the northern Gaza Strip, was detained in June 2004 accused of killing an Israeli soldier. He was sentenced to four life terms plus 16 years.

The prisoner’ mother appealed to President Mahmoud Abbas and Gaza premier Ismail Haniyeh to arrange medical treatment for her son.

In the will, Salah asked his wife to care for their two daughters Samar, 19, and Yasmin, 13, and to arrange the best weddings for them.
