RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Member of the Central committee in Fatah faction Mohammed Eshtiye has said that the Palestinian Authority does not want to deceive itself, its people, and the world by saying that there is a peace process.

He said during a meeting with a visiting Italian delegation on Tuesday that there is no real peace process.

Peace is not on the agenda of Israel, Eshtiye said, adding that the PA had offered whatever is possible for the sake of progressing peace but Israel always turned its back to those overtures.

He said that Israel always launches “illusionary wars” to distract the attention away from major issues.

The Fatah leader said that the PA does not want to remain an authority without sovereignty or an authority for municipality services.

Twenty years of negotiations, the longest in history, did not lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state because of the Zionist mentality that does not wish for peace, Eshtiye concluded.
