OSLO, (PIC)– The European network to support rights of Palestinian prisoners-Ufree said Palestinian lawmaker Ahmed Al-Haj Ali has entered a life-threatening stage and may not survive if his hunger strike continues for more days, and demanded his immediate release.
UFree noted that Haj Ali, an 80-year-old man, was arbitrarily taken prisoner last June 2011 and has been in administrative detention without any guilt since then.
According to his family, the lawmaker suffers from many illnesses including respiratory problems and his hunger strike has made his health situation much worse.
The European network said it has coordinated its efforts with international human rights organizations to take legal action aimed at ending the unjust detention of hunger strikers Haj Ali and Hana Shalabi.
