Ofer court extends illegal detention of 72 year old MP Haj Ali (also on hunger strike) with 6 more months

NABLUS, (PIC)– The Israeli military court of Ofer extended on Monday the administrative detention of Palestinian lawmaker Ahmed Al-Haj Ali, 72, for six more months, despite his hunger strike and his worsening health.

The court rejected the objection submitted by the defense lawyer and insisted on its arbitrary sentence.

Human rights groups and Palestinian MPs voiced deep concern over the life of Haj Ali because his age and his health situation do not allow him to go on hunger strike.

MP Haj Ali was kidnapped in the June of 2011 and has been in administrative detention since then. Lately, he started an open hunger strike in protest at his imprisonment without any guilt.

In another context, secretary-general of the Palestinian legislative council Mahmoud Al-Ramahi, behind Israeli bars, said the Israeli systematic violations against Palestinian prisoners in its jails would lead to an uncontrollable revolt.

Ramahi told the Palestinian information center (PIC) from inside the prison on Monday that all jails are on fire and cannot be calmed unless rational decisions are taken by the Israeli prison authority.

He affirmed that the hunger strike steps taken by the Palestinian prisoners would be like a lethal weapon against the Israeli repressive policies.
