TULKAREM, (PIC)– Detained Hamas leader Abbas Assayed has threatened that Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails would go on an open-ended hunger strike if isolated prisoners were not taken out of their solitary confinement.

Assayed said in a message leaked from his isolation cell in the Gilboa jail and published on Ahrar Baladna website that Israel had breached the prisoners’ exchange deal with Hamas and refused to end the isolation of Palestinian prisoners.

He asked Cairo, which mediated the exchange deal, to intervene and demand Israel to respect articles of the deal.

The Hamas leader described the hunger strike as difficult for both the prisoners and their families, and urged all solidarity activists to prepare their ideas and moves from now so that the activities would kick off on the first day the hunger strike is announced.
