RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Palestinian female hunger striker Hana Shalabi decided to suspend her 44-day hunger strike after the Israeli prison authority accepted to release her on condition that she lives in the Gaza Strip for three years as an exile.

Prisoner Shalabi said she was exposed to Israeli medical and psychological pressures to force her to break the strike after her health status reached a life-threatening stage.

Palestinian ministry of prisoners’ affairs in Gaza stated that the international condemnation of the Israeli administrative detention increased lately as Shalabi was refusing to break her hunger strike making the Israeli government in an ethical and legal bind and under considerable pressure.

For their part, the Palestinian Church of the Nativity exiles slammed in a press release the Israeli decision to expel prisoner Shalabi from the West Bank to Gaza in exchange for her freedom, describing the step as a “war crime”.

They stated that the Israeli exile deal violates the international law even if the prisoner is forced to accept it, and warned that the Israeli occupation authority would not allow Shalabi to return to the West Bank after she completes her exile period according to the deal as happened with them before.
