VIENNA, (PIC)– The Friends of Humanity organization has called on the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) to release seven Palestinian reporters held in its prisons.

The Vienna-based organization charged that the detention of journalists constitutes a flagrant violation of the freedom of the press.

It said that no authority whatsoever should obstruct work of journalists, arrest or threaten them.

The organization also called for ending the Israeli policy of administrative detention.

The IOA holds four Palestinian journalists in administrative detention, two sentenced, and one for interrogation.
