MPs: Hunger strikers in serious condition

[ PIC 10/04/2012 – 04:56 PM ]

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Hamas MPs in Ramallah and El-Bireh have held the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) and its prison service responsible for the life of Palestinian hunger strikers.

They said in a press release on Tuesday that atop of those strikers is the oldest serving administrative detainee Ahmed Al-Nabhan, who has been on hunger strike for 40 days, in addition to Hassan Al-Safadi, who has been on hunger strike for 38 days.

They also mentioned Mohammed Al-Arouri, who is suffering Thalassemia, and who is on hunger strike and who recently stopped taking medicine. He has been in administrative custody since April 2011.

They urged all local and foreign human rights groups to intervene and save the life of Arouri and demand his immediate release before it is too late.

The lawmakers called for a swift solution to the Israeli policy of administrative detention, which they said should be the release of all prisoners to enable them return to their families and live a normal life away from the IOA racist and unethical practices.
