RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Human rights sources have warned that Palestinian administrative detainee Bilal Dhiab’s health condition was critical after he stopped drinking water on his 44th day of hunger strike.
Muhjat Al-Quds foundation, catering for Palestinian prisoners, said that Dhiab decided to stop drinking water in protest at the Israeli occupation authority’s refusal to allow him see his lawyer.
It said in a press release that the IOA barred visits by lawyers to Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike.
The foundation quoted one of those lawyers as saying that the IOA had prohibited visits to hunger strikers Dhiab, Thaer Halahle, and Jaafar Ezzuddin.
The lawyer said that he had all legal papers allowing him to visit those prisoners but he was denied visitation.
The foundation described the ban as “illegal”, adding that lawyers of human rights organizations were also denied visits to those prisoners, which, it said, proved the illegality of the administrative detention policy.
