NABLUS, (PIC)– The Israeli prison service (IPS) has threatened unprecedented penalties and measures in the event the Palestinian prisoners went ahead in their plan of mass hunger strike.

The Tadamoun foundation for human rights said in a statement on Sunday that the IPS established a committee to negotiate with prisoners but instead of listening to their demands it started voicing threats.

Researcher with the foundation Ahmed Al-Beitawi said that the prisoners told the committee that if did not have any positive or new thing to offer until 17 April, the date when the strike is scheduled to kick off, then there was no need for any new meeting.

Rami Suleiman, a prisoner in the Israeli Shatta jail, said that topmost of the prisoners demands were ending solitary confinement, cancelling the so-called Shalit law, and allowing visits to Gaza prisoners.
