OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– The Israeli authorities at Lod airport deported nine French activists on arrival at the airport on Tuesday as part of “Welcome to Palestine” event.
A spokesperson for the Israeli immigration department said that the activists instigated violence and confusion aboard the plane they took from Athens and were deported back on the same plane.
The Israeli authorities are still detaining 40 foreigners for participation in the same event pending their deportation.
The campaign, organized for the third year running, targets shedding light on the Israeli restrictions on entry into the West Bank.
Less than 100 foreign solidarity activists managed to arrive at the Lod airport out of an estimated 1500 activists due to the Israeli pressures on western airlines not allow them to board their planes.
