NABLUS, (PIC)– The family of Omar Abu Shilal, who has been on hunger strike for 50 days in Israeli occupation jails, expressed concern for his health after the Israeli prison service (IPS) banned visits to him.

Um Obada, Omar’s sister, told the PIC reporter that she tabled a request with the IPS to visit her brother on 27/3/2012 but her request was turned down.

She criticized the PA for ignoring the case of her brother, saying that not one official bothered to phone the family or to show solidarity with them.

Um Obada held the Israeli occupation authority fully responsible for the life of Omar, pointing out that he suffers from diabetes, hypertension, low heartbeat, ulcer, and backache.

Omar, 55, lives in El-Ain refugee camp in Nablus and was arrested on 15/8/2011 while crossing Karame Bridge to Jordan en route to Saudi Arabia to perform the minor pilgrimage. He started his hunger strike on 7th March 2012.
