#PalHunger | Duqmaq: The incarceration conditions of isolated prisoners are very harsh

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Lawyer of Mandela foundation Buthaina Duqmaq said the Palestinian prisoners in solitary cells have been on hunger strike because they are deprived of the most basic human rights in Israeli jails.

Duqmaq told a news conference in Ramallah city that some isolated prisonersz like Mahmoud Issa has spent 15 years in solitary confinement in addition to prisoners Ibrahim Hamed, Ahmed Saadat and Abdullah Al-Barghouthi who have been isolated since the first day of their detention.

She told that the Israeli prison authority extend the isolation of prisoners for six months or more at the pretext there are secret files against them.

The lawyer stressed that the isolated prisoners decided to go on hunger strike as a result of the DNA testing they were subjected to lately, the attempted assassination of Palestinian leader Abbas Assayed in Gilboa jail and the medical neglect.

The lawyer added that the prisoners in general demand an end to the solitary confinement of isolated prisoners and the restrictions imposed on family visits to jails.

She also pointed that there are 19 Palestinian prisoners, nine in wheelchairs, in Ramla hospital and all o them are exposed to daily maltreatment and body search.
