#PalHunger | AOHR Egypt announces solidarity hunger strike

CAIRO,(PIC)– The Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR) in Egypt announced a series of solidarity activities in support of the Palestinian prisoners’ on hunger strike, starting by a solidarity hunger strike, on Sunday morning between 9 am and 9 pm at the General Secretariat of the organization.

The organization called on the Arab popular institutions in the Arab world to organize such solidarity activities in their headquarters. In addition the organization is planning to organize several solidarity activities in the next two weeks to call for the prisoners’ release.

AOHR condemned the silence of the international community towards the suffering of Palestinian prisoners who numbered 4700 prisoner in occupation prisons, 2000 of them are on hunger strike since mid-April 2012.

It also expressed its deep concern about the health deterioration for nearly 15 Palestinian prisoners who began their hunger strike since 50 to 70 days, including Thaer Halahleh and Bilal Diab, 70 days on hunger strike running, and Ahmad Saadat – Secretary General of the People’s Front for the Liberation of Palestine who was transferred to Ramla prison hospital with other prisoners where the Israelis tried to force feed them.

The organization called on head and members of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights to held a special urgent session to discuss the prisoners’ issue and condemn the occupation violations against human rights and to demand their release and to bear its responsibilities immediately towards the prisoners’ issue.
