NEW YORK, (PIC)– UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has asked Israel to put the Palestinian detainees on hunger strike on trial or release them.
Martin Nesirky, spokesman for UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, said that the Secretary General has asked all concerned parties to avoid deterioration in those detainees’ health condition and to find a solution without any further delay.
Nesirky said that Ki-moon was following up the hunger strike with concern especially of those held in administrative detention.
He said that the UN top official was supporting the efforts in this regard of his special envoy to the Middle East peace process Robert Serry.
Dozens of Palestinian citizens have blocked entry of UN officials into their office in Ramallah on Wednesday in protest over the UN’s silence toward the Palestinian prisoners’ hunger strike.
