#PalHunger | The release of Hazem Assida after ten years in occupation prisons

NABLUS, (PIC)– Al-Ahrar center for prisoners’ studies and human rights said that the detainee Hazem Assida, 30, from Tall town near Nablus, has been released after 10 years in occupation prisons.

The human rights center said that the detainee was released from Megiddo prison; he has lost significant weight because his hunger strike. “I was released from solitary cells because of my strike, the prisoners are in good spirits and need more support” the detainee said.

Assida said that the prison administration is trying to break the strike by any means.” They tried to force me to stop my hunger strike in return for my release but I refused and I insisted to continue my hunger strike in solidarity with the prisoners,” the detainee said.

Assida has talked about the ill-treatment in Megiddo cells, adding that the prison clinic is playing such a dirty role in an attempt to break the prisoners’ strike.

For his part, Fouad Khuffash has praised the detainee’s heroic position for refusing to stop his hunger strike and insisting to continue the strike despite the proximity of his release.

Hazem Assida is a student at Najah University and he had been arrested on 11/11/2000. He has participated in all captive movement’s battles for their rights.
