#Yom76 | IPS bargaining prisoners to end their strike

NABLUS, (PIC)– The Israeli prison services (IPS) has offered hunger striking prisoners to release those who completed two thirds of their sentence in return for ending their hunger strike, Fuad Al-Khafsh, the director of the Ahrar center for prisoners’ studies and human rights, said on Tuesday.

He said that the IPS wants to foil the strike by such offers that speculate freedom for prisoners after two thirds of the sentence and retaining their health by ending the strike.

Khafsh said that each prisoner stands before a judge, after completing two thirds of his sentence, who would look into his file and behavior before exempting him from the rest of his sentence or endorse it.

He underlined that the ruling is taken according to the whims of the Israeli intelligence officers, highlighting that 99% of Palestinian prisoners are denied the exemption.

The Ahrar director hailed the Palestinian prisoners for refusing the offer that would have driven a wedge in lines of the striking prisoners.

Meanwhile, prisoners told the PIC that Fatah leadership had asked Fatah prisoners not to join the hunger strike at the pretext of warding off tensions and troubles in the West Bank.
