Jordanian prisoner exposed to attempted killing last month

AMMAN, (PIC)– The mother of Jordanian prisoner Merei Abu Sa’aida said the Israeli jailers in Nafha prison tried to assassinate her son on 24 April.

The mother told a reporter for the Palestinian information center (PIC) in Amman on Wednesday that she has reliable information that her son is in a very serious medical condition and the jailers refuse to send him to any hospital or allow the Red Cross to check on him.

She added that her son was severely beaten with rifle butts on his head causing him to faint and his health to deteriorate.

The mother noted that her son urgently needs medical examination and care, especially with the possibility that he has internal bleeding, adding that he suffers from constant severe pain in the head, the eyes, and the neck as a result of the physical assault he was exposed to.

She noted that she contacted the Jordanian embassy in occupied Palestine, the Palestinian embassy in Amman, the Palestinian prisoner society and the Red Cross, but she had not received any help from them.

The mother appealed to the Jordanian king to personally intervene to get her son out of jail.

Prisoner Abu Sa’aida has a wife and a 15-year old child and has been able to see them once since his imprisonment nine years ago.
