Solemn funeral procession for leader Fathi Amro in Al-Khalil

AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– Tens of thousands of citizens from Dura city in Al-Khalil participated in the funeral of Hamas leader the preacher Fathi Amro, who passed away on Friday following a heart attack.

During the funeral, which witnessed wide public as well as factional participations, many speeches were delivered praising the leader Amro and his role in the reform and Da’wa in Palestine.

The funeral procession started from Mujahid mosque in Dura city, after covering the leader Amro’s body with Hamas’ green banner.

Sheikh Fathi was considered a prominent leader in Hamas movement, one of the founding members of the Muslim Brotherhood in Al-Khalil and a well-known reformer in the West Bank in general and in Al-Khalil city in particular.

Amro had been arrested more than 3 times by the occupation and more than once by PA, most recently two months ago, and was also one of the deportees to Marj Al-Zohour in south Lebanon in the early nineties. He was also the head of the Islamic Society for orphans, in addition to setting up the Zakat Committee in Dura.

For their part; the prisoners from Dura in the occupation prisons mourned the leader Amro in a letter in which they offered their deepest condolences to the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the deceased’s family.
