RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — Israeli forces raided a town near Ramallah on Monday and searched the home of a detained sheikh, witnesses said.
Sheikh Mohammad al-Dahleh was detained from his Beituniya home by an Israeli intelligence force in civilian clothing on Thursday.
Several others — including former prisoners affiliated with Hamas — who were holding a meeting at the sheikh’s home were also detained, Palestinian security officials told Ma’an.
The forces searched the other detainees’ homes in Beituniya and al-Tireh at the time and confiscated large sums of cash.
On Monday, Israeli forces raided the sheikh’s home again and were searching for money, Palestinian security sources said.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said forces took part in “routine activity” in Beituniya on Monday morning.
