DELIBERATE MEDICAL NEGLECT | Health of prisoner Alaa Hassouna’s badly deteriorated

AL-KHALIL,(PIC)– The Palestinian prisoner center confirmed the serious deterioration of the prisoner Alaa Hassouna’s health, detained since 2004, in light of the deliberate medical neglect by the Ramla Prison administration where he is serving an 8-year sentence.

The center said in a press release, on Wednesday, that the detainee Hassouna was subjected to deliberate medical neglect during his imprisonment especially after his long suffering from heart problems where he underwent a heart surgery in 2007. The prisoner needs regular medical checkups every six months, “Assaf Harofe” hospital doctors said, however the Israeli prison administration refused to do so and did not provide medical care for him.

The statement pointed out that the prisoner Hassouna is currently suffering from significant damage to the heart muscle which works at 25 per cent of normal power, which means that the prisoner is in very severe state and requires a immediate sustainable and special care.

The Palestinian prisoner center noted that the committee for early release of the prison service administration refused to release the sick prisoner who still has few months to end his sentence, disregarding his health deterioration.
