GAZA,(PIC)– The Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Studies reported that the Israeli prison administration continues to prevent the Palestinian female prisoners from having access to books or handicraft materials aiming to impose more restrictions on prisoners in order to increase their suffering.

Riad Ashkar, the center’s director, said in a press statement that the occupation has deprived the female prisoners of books and handicraft materials for the past three years, in addition to banning cleaning materials, the lack of which is causing the rooms of the captives to be infested with mice and cockroaches which threatens the health of the captives.

The human rights researcher confirmed that the Palestinian female prisoners complained of the deliberate medical neglect exercised by the prison administration, pointing out that there are seven Palestinian women currently in Israeli detention, including two patient prisoners who are deprived of treatment and care.

He called on media to focus more on the female prisoners’ suffering and to shed light on their cases, demanding UN organizations concerned with women’s issues to expose the Israeli crimes and to pressure the Israeli prison administration to fulfill their legal and humanitarian obligations towards prisoners.
