Violent confrontations in Shufat

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces (IOF) used teargas and stun grenades to disperse Palestinian young men at the Shufat refugee camp.

Eyewitnesses said that the IOF summoned more soldiers to quell the young men, who were protesting blocking them from praying in the Aqsa mosque, in the confrontations that started on Thursday night and continued till dawn Friday.

Meanwhile, the Israeli police announced that thousands of its elements were deployed in occupied Jerusalem since the early morning hours on Friday.

A police spokesperson said that the police would follow its usual procedure of preventing young men from entering the Aqsa mosque.

She said that only men over 40 years old would be allowed to enter the Aqsa in addition to women of all ages and children under 12 years old.
