NABLUS, (PIC)– A Palestinian human rights organization held the Israeli prison administration responsible for the deterioration of the health of captive Khaled Abu Arafa, former Minister for Jerusalem Affairs in the tenth Palestinian government, due to the medical negligence in Israeli jails.

“Ahrar” center for the studies of prisoners and human rights said in a press statement on Thursday, that although Abu Arafa has been suffering from severe kidney pain, he has been deprived from an appropriate medical treatment.

The center added that “the health of the Minister has become extremely difficult” as a result of his illness and the absence of treatment.

Abu Arafa appealed to human rights organizations to take serious measures in order to activate the issue of sick prisoners in Israeli occupation jails and to expose the practices of the occupation against them.

Abu Arafa had been kidnapped on 22 January 2012 from a protest tent in the Red Cross headquarters in Jerusalem where he had been protesting against a decision issued by the occupation to deport him and three of his colleagues.

The occupation authorities had refused to release him and intend to deport him from the city of Jerusalem.
