AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– A taxi driver tried on Thursday to burn his car in Ibn Rushd square in city of al-Khalil in the occupied West Bank in protest at high cost of living, which Ramallah government was responsible for.

According to activists from “youth against high cost of living” group, the citizen Harbi Abu Sneineh, in his forties, tried to burn his car at Ibn Rushd Square in the center of al-Khalil city, within the framework of the recent protests launched by citizens and taxi drivers against the price hikes.

The activists added that the citizens intervened and managed to prevent Abu Sneineh from setting fire to his vehicle.

The West Bank has been recently witnessing a series of mass protests to protest against the economic policy of Salam Fayyad’s government and demand PM’s resignation and reduction of the price hikes.
