NAZARETH, (PIC)– An Israeli court sentenced Sheikh Nazim Abu Salah, a Mosque imam from the 1948 occupied lands, to three years in jail on allegation of incitement to violence and terrorism.

Sheikh Abu Salah is the imam of Shahabuddin Mosque in Nazareth city and he is a prominent religious figure and reformer there.

According to the indictment that was prepared by the Israeli prosecutor, Sheikh Abu Salah, 47, is accused of comitting serious violations including the use of his religious stature to incite others to do violent acts.

To justify its charges further against the Sheikh, the prosecutor claimed that he supports Al Qaeda and Taliban groups in Afghanistan and his speeches influenced his followers who later killed an Israeli citizen.

The sentence was completely based on the prosecutor’s claims with no evidence proving that Sheikh Abu Saleh was guilty.
