AL-KHALIL, (PIC)– Israeli occupation forces (IOF) released, on Thursday, the captive Ismail Awawda, a leader in Hamas movement from Dura, south of al-Khalil.

Sources told PIC that the occupation released Sheikh Ismail Awawda from the Negev desert prison after an administrative detention that lasted more than 22 months, and that he was received by his relatives and many of his town’s residents, as well as national and Islamic figures and leaders.

The IOF had arrested the engineer Awawda in the beginning of December 2010, and transferred him to administrative detention.

He had been previously arrested several times by the occupation and he was also one of the deportees to Marj al-Zohour in the beginning of the nineties.
