Dr. Tarik Omar Shifa Hospital in Gaza would like to have “distractors” at his disposal to perform surgery on his patients’ jaws.

He, as two of his collegues, master the new intervention techniques of maxillofacial surgery. But without this little device that fits in the mouth and helps to strengthen the jaw after surgery, they can not perform this sophisticated surgery.

And their patients are obliged – if they have the means – and are able to obtain a passport and a visa to travel abroad to undergo surgery.

This is what happened to Abdullah, 8 years old.

His house in Jabalya in Northern Gaza was bombed during the massacres of “Operation Cast Lead”.

” I was so scared that I took refuge in the closet, which fell on my face and I barely had time to free myself. ”

Abdallah’s right side of the jaw was crushed and had to undergo two surgeries in Egypt.
Part of his family died underneath the rubble of the house.

Concerning Mohamed, 17 years old: He was hit by a bullet in the jaw during the same attack.

” I live in Jabalya. On top of their tanks, Israeli soldiers started shooting and aimed me straight in the face.”

To regain a face a bit like normal, Mohamed had to undergo several surgeries. He speaks with great difficulty, sometimes uses writing in stead. He can not feed himself otherwise than with liquid food.

End of December we will go to Gaza with a hundred volunteers to say NO to inhumane blockade suffered by the entire population of Gaza (complete information about the mission is available on the site www.BienvenuePalestine.com

On this occasion we would like to bring Dr. Omar Tarik and his team at least one of the devices, which cost about 5000 euros each (which are reusable 15 times).

APPEL A DONS POUR CHIRURGIE MAXILLO-FACIALE A GAZA

Le Dr Tarik Omar de l’hôpital Shifa, à Gaza, aimerait disposer de « distractors » pour opérer ses patients atteints à la mâchoire.

Il maîtrise, ainsi que deux de ses collègues,  les nouvelles techniques d’intervention maxillo-faciale, mais sans ce petit appareil qui se place dans la bouche et permet de consolider la mâchoire après l’intervention, ils ne peuvent pratiquer cette chirurgie très sophistiquée.

Et leurs patients sont obligés, quand ils en ont les moyens, et qu’ils parviennent à obtenir un passeport et un visa,  de se rendre à l’étranger pour être opérés.

C’est ce qui est arrivé à Abdallah, 8 ans.

Sa maison de Jabalya, au Nord de Gaza a été bombardée pendant les massacres de « l’opération Plomb Durci ».

 » J’ai eu si peur que je me suis réfugié sous le placard,  qui est tombé sur mon visage et j’ai à peine eu le temps de me dégager».

Abdallah a eu  le coté droit de la mâchoire  écrasé et a du subir 2 interventions chirurgicales en Egypte.

Une partie de sa famille est morte sous les décombres de la maison.
 

Quant à Mohamed 17 ans,  il a été atteint d’une balle en pleine mâchoire durant cette même attaque.

»J’habite à Jabalya.  Du haut de leur chars, les soldats  israéliens  se sont mis à tirer et m’ont visé en plein visage. »

Afin de retrouver un visage a peu près normal,  Mohamed a dû subir plusieurs interventions chirurgicales. Il s’exprime avec beaucoup de difficulté,  ayant parfois recours à l’écrit. Il ne peut s’alimenter que de liquide.

Lors de la mission à Gaza de fin décembre, nous  aimerions apporter au Dr.  Tarik Omar et à son équipe au moins un de ses appareils, qui coûtent près de 5000 euros pièce (et qui sont réutilisables 15 fois).
