OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)– Al-Aqsa Foundation for the Endowment and heritage said in a statement issued on Monday that the MK Uri Ariel, chairman of the Knesset’s State Control Committee, has stormed al-Aqsa mosque on Monday accompanied by Israeli military officers.
The group, including officer Moshe Barqat and other Israeli leaders who usually work to organize the break-ins of Israeli settlers and Jewish groups into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, toured heavily guarded by the occupation forces, more than an hour and a half, during which they talked about al-Aqsa Mosque’s aspects, especially in the Marwani mosque.
Fourteen settlers stormed al-Aqsa Mosque on the same day where one of them tried to perform Talmudic rituals wearing special clothes.
Al-Aqsa Foundation warned against this intrusion and its consequences, adding that it may be linked to the Israeli plan to divide al-Aqsa mosque between Muslims and Jews.
The Foundation revealed that many members of the Likud party, including MK Zvi Hotpola and Uri Ariel as head of the so-called Knesset’s State Control Committee, demanded “freedom of worship for Jews on the ‘Temple Mount’,” a label launched by the occupation to storm al-Aqsa mosque and to lift “restrictions on Jews during their presence on the ‘Temple Mount’”.
Al-Aqsa Mosque has witnessed on Monday an intense presence of Jerusalemite school students who came in light of Al-Aqsa Foundation Architecture and sanctities’ guided tours on the most important features of the Al Aqsa Mosque.
Meanwhile, Palestinian sources in Jerusalem confirmed that hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed, on Monday under tight army protection, Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood downtown Jerusalem, and had performed prayers and Biblical rituals in the homes of Ghawi and Hanoun families that were seized by the occupation authorities earlier, and handed over to the settlers.
The sources added that the settlers, who came from various settlements of the occupied West Bank, gathered in the surrounding area of Al-Sadiq Hijazi Maqam, an Islamic Maqam owned by a Muslim Sheikh, but the occupation seized it claiming that it is a Jewish Maqam and named it “Shimon Htsidik.”
The settlers performed Biblical prayers in the Maqam, and they collect donations to support settlements and the settlers who are trying to take over the neighborhood, the same source revealed.
