GAZA, (PIC)– The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights expressed its deep concern over the elections of local councils in West Bank cities and villages, to be held on Saturday, October 20, under the deterioration of public freedoms and the widespread violations of human rights by PA.

The human rights center said in a statement that before holding any election in the West Bank some conditions must be provided as allowing an atmosphere of objectivity for holding transparent and fair elections that reflect the will of the voters.

The center added in its statement: “These conditions include, in particular, the protection of public freedoms, including the right to freedom of opinion and expression, the right to peaceful assembly, the right to form associations, freedom of the press, the release of political detainees, and an end to restrictions placed on political activities.”
