RAMALLAH, (PIC)– A Human Rights organization said on Wednesday that the hunger strikers Samer al-Issawi and Ayman Sharawna started escalatory steps inside Ramle prison in 1948 occupied Palestine.

Fadi Obeidat, who visited the two prisoners, confirmed that they refused to go to the clinics as an escalatory step to pressure the prison administration to respond to their demands. They also decided to drink only water without sugar and vitamins.

Obeidat added that the two remaining Palestinian hunger strikers in Israeli prison are in immediate danger as their prolonged hunger strikes have led to a rapid deterioration in their health.

Sharawna’s health has deteriorated so severely that he suffers chronic pain in his kidneys, low pulse, low blood pressure, where he is now unable to walk and is confined to bed.

Ayman Sharawna is in critical condition as his health continues to deteriorate. He has lost the vision in his right eye and has lost all feeling in body. He has been informed that his kidneys are not functioning properly and he also has extreme pain in his back, which prevents him from standing up. He refused to be treated due to the prison administration’s pressures and bad treatment.

Other problems Ayman is suffering from include low immunity, low heart beat, low fat content, low blood pressure, low sugar levels.

The lawyer pointed out that the two strikers, al-Issawi and Sharawna, have been living in a single inappropriate room, and the prison administration did not discuss their case at all, claiming that the ‘Shin Bet’ is the responsible for their issue.

Al-Issawi and Sharawna are liberated prisoners were released in Shalit deal and then re-arrested by the occupation authorities without charge or trial, where Sharawna, from al-Khalil, started his open hunger strike on 1 July 2012, and al-Issawi, from occupied Jerusalem, launched his hunger strike on 08 January 2012.

Israel is violating these courageous hunger strikers’ most basic rights on a daily basis, even as they come to the brink of death.
