RAMALLAH, (PIC)– A meeting was held between PA president Abbas and a delegation of MPs and former ministers from Hamas Movement on Saturday evening, at the Muqata in Ramallah.

The meeting took place at 7:00 pm and lasted for an hour and a half, during which the MPs and the former ministers from Hamas demanded Mahmoud Abbas to release the political prisoners from PA jails, and to allow public freedoms in the West Bank in order to be able to achieve unity of Palestinian ranks and to apply reconciliation agreements.

MP Ahmed Attoun told PIC reporter in the city of Ramallah that the meeting dealt with the ongoing attacks against the public freedoms by the Authority security apparatuses, and the ongoing and continuous political arrests in the West Bank.

The MPs and the former Ministers told Mahmoud Abbas about the need for an international intervention to put pressure on the occupation to respect the Representatives of the people, and release them.

Attoun also pointed out to the position of the Fatah leader Nabil Shaath, who attended the meeting and who had visited the Gaza Strip earlier and met with Hamas leaders there, as Shaath said that the leaders in the Gaza Strip “are providing a very suitable platform for the completion of Palestinian reconciliation process.”
