RAMALLAH, (PIC)– MP for Jerusalem city, Ahmed Attoun, considered that the practices of the occupation in Jerusalem, including construction and expansion of settlements, opening offices in Muslim neighborhoods and the excavations, confirm the Israeli attempts to impose new facts to Judaize Jerusalem.
Attoun, the Jerusalem MP deported to the city of Ramallah, said in remarks to Quds Press agency that building new settlement units in “Maale Adumim” (the largest Jewish settlement in the West Bank) and in other settlements by the occupation and its government represent “a response to the Palestinians’ success in obtaining the observer status at the United Nations.”
He stated that Israel defies through its practices all UN and international resolutions, especially after giving Palestine the status of an observer state and considering what happened in the Palestinian land after 1967 as internationally illegal.
Attoun also urged the Arab and Muslim world to develop a plan to save what can be saved in the city of Jerusalem.
He warned that the delay in supporting Jerusalem “gives the occupation an opportunity to exercise and implement its plans, particularly the so-called Plan for 2020, from which the Israeli occupation seeks to change the demographic and geographic reality.
The Jerusalemite MP also confirmed the Palestinian people’s trust in the Arab Spring countries to support the city of Jerusalem.
