HEBRON (Ma’an) — Israeli forces on Thursday detained three teenagers in a raid on Beit Ummar in the southern West Bank, the local popular committee said.
Committee spokesman Mohammad Awad said five jeeps and dozens of soldiers entered the town in the early hours of Thursday morning. They detained Nassem Abu Maria, 15, Jihad Ikhlayel, 16, and 17-year-old Ahmad Ikhlayel, he said.
Abu Maria was due to undergo hand surgery at Hebron Governmental Hospital, Awad said. Witnesses said the teenagers were handcuffed and brutally beaten before they were taken to an unknown location.
An Israeli military spokeswoman said there was no military activity in the town.
