Israeli Official Strip Search and Humiliate Prisoner’s Sister

PNN English | Jan 8, 2013

On Tuesday 8th January, Israel’s Prison Service (IPS) at Rimon prison prevented the sister of the prisoner Iyad Nassar from Tul Karem from visiting her brother following a punishment imposed on the prisoner few weeks ago on claims he owned a sharp tool.

The prisoner’s sister, Ghada Nassar, told the Palestinian prisoners society that as she arrived to the prison, she wanted to buy few things to her brother but one of the officials tore up the money she was holding, threw the cloths and strip-searched her for several hours.

After arguing with Israeli officials, they allowed her to see her brother from afar. They also tore up the visit permit and her ID, and told her that her family is not allowed to visit their son anymore.

The Palestinian prisoner society condemned the IPS and said that such violent practices show hatred and Israeli authorities’ desire to revenge from the prisoner and his family.

It’s worth mentioning that the prisoner is sentenced to 30 years in prison, and served 11 years for now. He lost the sight in his left eye due to medical negligence.
