RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) confirmed on Tuesday that the Israeli prisons services (IPS) practiced on striking prisoners psychological pressure to force them to break their continued strike.

IPS failed to undermine the prisoners’ will, where they refused to listen to the Israeli lies showing great steadfastness and patience, the PPS added.

The hunger striker Tariq Hussein Ka’adan, 41, revealed that IPS has deliberately put a cart full of food and dairy outside the strikers’ room in Ramle prison hospital in order to pressure them.

Ka’adan told PPS that the Israeli scheme was revealed and thwarted, where the hunger striker Tarek Jaafar immediately called on the Israeli jailers to take the cart away, telling them that their attempts could never succeed.

For his part, the prisoner Jafar Azzedine confirmed that they will continue the hunger strike despite their health deterioration, and in light of the Israeli attempts to deceive the public opinion by putting the food cart outside the prisoners’ room to show that they are not on hunger strike.

The PPS’ lawyer stressed that the striker Ka’adan refused to sit in a wheelchair despite his health deterioration and his extreme exhaustion, pointing out that the two prisoners are suffering from a significant deterioration in their health situation.

The hunger striker Azzedine also confirmed that he will continue his hunger strike till martyrdom, condemning at the same time the passiveness and cowardice in dealing with the strikers’ issue.

The lawyer Fadi Obeidat quoted the prisoner Azzedine as saying that the striking prisoners are defending the Palestinian dignity and sanctities, calling on the Palestinian people not allow the occupation to continue committing crimes against them.

Meanwhile, the liberated prisoner Abdul-Jabbar Jarar stated that the prisoners feel marginalized by the Palestinian leadership.

The leader in Hamas movement Jarar who was released a few days ago said to the PIC reporter that many prisoners suffer flu and extreme fatigue due to the recent cold wave especially that they have no sufficient blankets.

Jarrar said that he lived with the striker prisoners for more than a month before they were transferred to Ramle prison hospital, stressing that they are in high spirits and determined to continue their hunger strike until they are freed or get official promise to be released.

He condemned the Israeli administrative detention policy which he was one of its victims, where he said that he asked the Israeli judge to give him a charge to avoid committing it next time because he wants to spend his life with his family but the judge said nothing.

Regarding the passive popular support to the prisoners’ issue, he said that the liberated prisoners and the Palestinian factions bear the responsibility for this dereliction.

He called on the liberated prisoners not to forget their brothers who still suffer oppression and deprivation.

Concerning the Israeli constant attacks on prisoners, he said that the occupation does not want stability for any prisoner, this is why it seeks to oppress and transfer them continuously.
