NABLUS, (PIC)– Tadhamun Foundation for Human Rights said that the Palestinian prisoners in Hawara detention center in the south of Nablus are living in difficult conditions because of the occupation authorities’ repressive measures.
Ahmed Betawi, researcher at al-Tadhamun Foundation, pointed to the poor living conditions in Hawara, to the recurrent and sudden break-ins into the prisoners’ rooms and to the policy of the strip searches adopted against the prisoners even in the cold weather.
He stated that the Hawara detention center is still under the Army administration, which means the absence of a supervisory authority to monitor the conditions in the detention center.
Betawi demanded the Red Cross and other human rights institutions to hold regular visits to the center.
