TULKAREM, (PIC)– Dr. Hassan Khreisha, the second deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council, has said that Israel was cloning its previous step of detaining Palestinian MPs to influence their effective role in the Palestinian arena.
Khreisha told Quds Press on Monday that Israel was trying to obstruct the work of the PLC and retain the internal Palestinian division, adding that Israel was the only one benefitting from the present state of affairs and was seeking to maintain it.
The Tulkarem MP said that the best response to the Israeli step is to hold an urgent PLC session, adding that appeals and requests did not lead to the release of a single MP and the “Palestinians have to embark on a practical step to change the de facto situation”.
He expected more arrests to take place, possibly targeting leaders and activists of other factions. He advocated seriousness in achieving reconciliation, any further delay of which would give Israel a new opportunity to sabotage it.
