HRW: “Israel Violated International Law During Gaza War”

Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported that Israel’s airstrikes against the Gaza Strip in the most recent war on Gaza in November of last year violated International laws of war, as the Israeli army bombarded areas that had no “legitimate military targets”.

The war was carried out by the Israeli army against the Gaza Strip in the period between November 14 and 21 of last year.

HRW reported that it conducted an investigation as part of a non-comprehensive report in which it found out that, in 14 instances, Israel unmanned drones fired missiles into civilian areas with no indication of any military target.

It added that in four more instances, the Israeli army targeted what was described as identifiable military targets yet the weapons used against these targets were disproportionate, and caused harm to civilians.

HRW said that these attacks led to the death of 43 Palestinian civilians, including twelve children.

It further stated that it released its report now after it was carried out by trained military police investigators, an issue that took time.

During the 8-day war in November of last year Israeli missiles and shells killed 191 Palestinians, including children, women and elderly, while at least 1492 Palestinians have been injured, dozens seriously. 48 children, including 16 under the age of five, have been killed by Israeli missiles and shells, in addition to 12 women and 20 elderly.

1492 Palestinians, including 533 children (195 under the age of 5), 254 women and 103 elderly have been injured by Israeli fire and shells.

* The list of shuhada does not display, the numerous victims of the zionist occupation which are undocumented by media. Nor it displays the victims of the “silent onslaught” due to restrictions of movement, ability to go to hospitals for treatment or life saving surgery, due to lack of medication because of the blockades and so on. For example: The Slow Motion Genocide by the Siege on Gaza only, killed 600 patients since Gaza got under Israeli Siege.

Neither does this list, display the avoidable mortality. A clear and statistical factual evidence, about the number of deaths due to indecent ruling by occupation forces. For even an occupier has obligations under International Laws, Geneva Convention and the Hague regulations, which it is neglecting. These circumstances, together with deliberate policies of the occupier to neglect and even deny every basic human right, severes avoidable mortality which is totally silenced by media or reporting organisations. While in the Holocaust, 1 on 6 Jewish people directly died of deliberate neglect, so if we believe the facts over 1 million due to avoidable mortality, neither should these same circumstances be ignores which are ongoing in Palestine. For this report displays a avoidable morality of at least 0,5 million Palestinians.

How many more dead corpses of Palestinians does the international community need to see in order to act? How many more cruelties and violations of Human Rights, Regulations and International Law will be needed to intervene so this ongoing warcrime is being stopped once and for all.
