JENIN, (PIC)– National and Islamic forces in the town of Arraba, south of Jenin, staged a rally on Friday afternoon, with the participation of Sheikh Raed Salah, leader of the Islamic movement in the Palestinian 1948-occupied territories.

PIC’s reporter said that the event began after Friday prayers, which was performed at a school in the town, where Sheikh Raed Salah stressed the need to act in order to release the prisoners.

Sheikh Salah called on all governments and Islamic forces in the Arab and Muslim worlds to unite their efforts to defend the Palestinian people and sanctities, and considered that freeing the prisoners is the real beginning to the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Ex-prisoner Youssef Shaaban, liberated two days ago from the occupation jails where he waged a hunger strike for two months, gave a speech in which he stressed the hunger strikers’ determination to continue their strike despite the serious deterioration in their health conditions.

Sheikh Yusuf al-Haj Aref, a leader in the Islamic Jihad movement, also delivered a speech in which he hailed Sheikh Raed Salah’s great struggle in defending the Islamic sanctities and the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Sheikh Yusuf called on the Palestinian factions and people to unite their efforts, stressing that the resistance is the only way to confront the occupation.

The participants in the festival called for escalating solidarity activities to save the lives of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, especially the hunger strikers.
