RAMALLAH, (PIC)– Tadhamon Foundation for Human Rights said that the Israeli occupation forces have continued during February its oppressive policies against Palestinian citizens in the Palestinian territories.

The Foundation monitored in its monthly report the Israeli violations; represented in killing the civilians, continuation of the incursions, the arrests, seizure of the Palestinian lands and farms for settlement expansion and the demolition of Palestinian buildings.

Ahmed Betawi, researcher at Al Tadhamon Foundation, pointed out that last February marked the martyrdom of two citizens: Qassam al-Dhamidi, 18 from Hawara village in the south of Nablus, who died of wounds he had sustained 8 years ago when he was run over by a Jewish settler, and the prisoner Arafat Jaradat, 30 from Sa’ir village in al-Khalil, who died as a result of the torture he was subjected to in an occupation prison.

Concerning the detentions; Betawi said that the Israeli daily arrests have continued during last February in different cities, villages and camps in the West Bank and the border area in the Gaza Strip.

He stated that the foundation has registered about 350 arrests; including dozens of children, 10 women and 30 university students, in addition to three MPs and two journalists.

He also added that more than 25 citizens have been arrested at Israeli checkpoints, set up at the entrances to cities, and at the border crossing of Karama Bridge, in addition to the arrest of 4 other citizens at the Erez checkpoint, which borders the Gaza Strip, and dozens of fishermen while fishing.

Ahmed Betawi said that the occupation authorities have confiscated during February 280 dunums belonging to Palestinian citizens.

He pointed that the Israeli occupation has demolished more than 12 Palestinian buildings, under the pretext of unlicensed construction. Most of the demolitions took place in the city of Jerusalem, Bethlehem and al-Khalil, and resulted in the displacement of dozens of families.

Al Tadhamun Foundation for Human Rights called on the international community and humanitarian organizations to pressure the occupation and force it to respect the International conventions, especially those relating to the Palestinian prisoners.

It also demanded the Palestinian Authority to benefit from its status as a non-member observer state at the United Nations and call on the concerned authorities to halt these violations.
