Mishaal asserts prisoners’ issue on top priorities of Hamas

CAIRO, (PIC)– Khaled Mashaal, head of Hamas’s political bureau stressed that the issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails is on the top of his movement’s national priorities.

Meshaal said at a conference in Cairo on Thursday that the coming period will witness a great victory for the prisoners in Israeli occupation jails.

He pointed out that Israel “is no longer as it was in the past, in terms of power, and that the Palestinian resistance has exposed Israel’s weaknesses.”

Chairman of Hamas politburo also revealed that his movement has been holding meetings with parties from the Egyptian military establishment at the invitation of the Egyptian president, and condemned “the media fabrications against Hamas.”

He asserted that his movement will protect Egypt’s security and that it has never interfered in the internal affairs of Egypt.

Mishaal stressed that the Palestinians appreciate the role of Egypt and the Egyptian army in supporting the Palestinian cause in the past, present and future.

Regarding the Palestinian reconciliation file; Mishaal stressed that the reconciliation is a top priority for Hamas, pointing out that the occupation and the international community have been putting obstacles for the reconciliation.

“The reconciliation does not mean that Hamas is giving up its principles, constants and political program, but is rather looking for common grounds between us,” the Hamas leader said.
