images_News_2013_04_04_prison_300_0[1]GAZA, (PIC)– The Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Studies confirmed that the patient prisoners in the Negev desert prison announced to stop taking their medicines on Wednesday evening.

Kaher Abu Kamal, spokesman for the center in the West Bank, said in a statement on Thursday that the prisoners took this step to voice their condemnation of the death of prisoner Maysara Ahmed Abu Hamdiya inside the occupation jails due to the medical neglect.

Abu Kamal noted that the prisoners in the Negev have waged on Thursday a hunger strike, for the second day, as escalatory steps to protest the killing of Abu Hamdiya, and the Israeli repressive procedures against them.

Sources from the Palestinian captive movement in the Negev prison told the Center that special units stormed and searched section 30 and section 9 in the jail, on Wednesday morning.

The occupation forces attacked the prisoners during the break-ins, injuring a number of them, and punished those who participated in the strike by confiscating their electrical appliances.

Abu Kamal confirmed that the Negev prison has been witnessing tension since the death of Abu Hamdiya, and expected the outbreak of clashes and confrontations between the captives and the prison administration.

Meanwhile; 20 prisoners arrived to the Negev prison after being transferred from Eichel. The Israeli Prison Service forced the newcomers to enter the prison’s sections after brutally abusing them.
