RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — The health of a 49-year-old Palestinian is seriously deteriorating in Israel’s Ashkelon prison, a lawyer for the Ministry of Detainee Affairs said Thursday.
Muhamad Abu Amsha has been detained since 2006 and has had several heart attacks since his arrest, the lawyer said in a statement.
Abu Amsha was taken to Soroka Hospital and given drugs which he said worsened his condition.
The medication caused him to pass blood and led to swelling to the left side of his body and difficulty breathing.
He said he needed urgent surgery but complained that prison doctors neglected him.
