GAZA, (PIC)– The head of the Islamic bloc in Gaza Hani Mukbel said that the wave of Israeli arrests in lines of the bloc in the West Bank targets influencing the results of the students’ elections in Najah university.
Mukbel denounced in a statement on Sunday the collusion between the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian Authority in a bid to dissuade the Islamic bloc from participating in the elections.
He said that both (Israel and the PA) were surprised with the results of earlier students’ elections in other universities that proved the advance of the Islamic bloc despite all the harassment against it.
Mukbel stressed that such harassment and arrests would not weaken the Islamic bloc’s determination, which would continue in its work regardless of pressure, adding that the arrests would only boost the bloc’s insistence on challenging and contesting the elections.
The Israeli occupation forces had nabbed five leaders of the Islamic bloc only hours before the election campaign was scheduled to kick off. The bloc announced intention to run for the elections for the first time in six years.
