Qasem: Abbas is not serious about forming a unity government

NABLUS, (PIC)– Political analyst Abdul-Sattar Qasem played down the seriousness of de facto president Mahmoud Abbas to form a national unity government.

Abbas said on Saturday that he would start consultations in order to form a national government according to the Doha declaration.

“If Abbas was concerned about the reconciliation and ending the division, he would form a committee to draft a national charter leading the restructuring of the liberation organization before forming a unity government,” Qasem stated.

He expressed his belief that Abbas repeats such remarks to impress the public without having any honest intention to reconcile with Hamas.
