GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas movement denounced the statements of Fatah movement in which it calls on Hamas not to interfere in Arab affairs.

Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman, said in a press statement on Thursday that such statements represent evidence of the involvement of Fatah movement in the plot that aims at distorting the image of Hamas movement.

He pointed out that the remarks made by Fatah officials confirm that it does not want to achieve reconciliation with Hamas.

For his part, the Hamas leader Salah Bardawil also slammed Fatah statements that criticize Hamas’s position that rejects the intervention of Hezbollah in Syria.

“Fatah is the one which has committed errors of moving from one focus to another and the Palestinian people have paid for that”, Bardawil said.

He stressed that his movement is in harmony with itself and with its people, and that its position calling for the withdrawal of Hezbollah forces from Syria “stems from the movement’s principles and constants.”

He said that Hamas will lose its focus, and asserted: “Our only focus is to liberate Palestine. Everyone who supports our cause and the resistance represent part of our focus.”

Update June 20, 2013

The head of International Relations in the Islamic Resistance Movement has said that political arrests made by the Palestinian Authority against Hamas members do not reflect any serious intention towards national reconciliation. Osama Hamdan pointed out that since 2007 the PA has arrested or summonsed around 15,000 fellow Palestinians, mostly affiliates of the groups opposed to Fatah, including Hamas. “Almost 120 people were arrested in the first two weeks of June alone,” he noted. http://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/middle-east/6336-pa-has-arrested-15000-palestinians-in-six-years
