GAZA, (PIC)– Hamas movement strongly condemned the decision of Egyptian judiciary to detain the elected President Mohamed Morsi for 15 days on charges of collaborating with Hamas.

Hamas leader Dr. Salah Bardawil asserted in statements to PIC that Hamas is not a terrorist movement, but a resistance movement that defends the dignity of the Arab and Islamic Nation.

He pointed out that presenting Hamas as the enemy of the Egyptian people, and prosecuting all those who have relations with it is contrary to Egypt’s law and contrary to the Egyptian morals and the will of the Egyptian people as a whole.

Bardawil called on the Palestinian and Egyptian peoples, Arab and Islamic Nation and the free world to condemn this resolution, which puts Hamas on the terrorism list and prosecutes an elected president in Egypt because of his support to the resistance and the Palestinian people.

He has also reiterated that Hamas did not and would never interfere in the Egyptian internal crisis.

Dr. Abdel Sattar Qassem, professor of political science at An-Najah National University in Nablus, saw that the Egyptian judiciary’s decision to imprison President Mohamed Morsi on charges of collaborating with Hamas as “incitement against the resistance and the Palestinian people.”

He condemned in statements to Quds Press the media campaign targeting Hamas, the resistance and the Palestinian people, and said: “The decision to detain President Mohamed Morsi on charges of collaborating with Hamas is unacceptable”.

Dr. Qassem added that this campaign targeting Hamas will tighten the siege on Gaza.

For his part, professor of political science at Qatar University, Dr. Mohammed Mesfer, strongly criticized the decision to detain the dismissed President Morsi.

Mesfer opined in a statement on Friday that there is no political or legal justification for accusing the president of the largest Arab country of collaborating with the resistance movement leaders whom he had met before the eyes of the entire world.

He said: “The Egyptian official statement aims to incite the public opinion against Hamas and against Egypt’s former President Mohamed Morsi,” explaining that Morsi as the head of state received Hamas political leaders and Gaza’s Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, as he had received other Palestinian leaders including Mahmoud Abbas.

Dr. Mesfer considered that the statement paves the way for tightening the siege on the Gaza Strip, pointing out that there are plans to destroy any Islamic movement in Palestine.

“The Palestinian Authority and Fatah affiliates in the Gulf states stand behind the media campaign targeting Hamas in the Egyptian media,” which serves the interests of Israel, he said.

The professor warned of the seriousness of the repercussions of this anti-Hamas campaign in the Gaza Strip.

He stressed that this campaign is part of a bigger plot against Palestine and Egypt, supported by some Arab countries and Arab funds in order to serve the interests of Israel.
