JERUSALEM (Ma’an) — A fou\rty-year-old man died early Monday after falling from the southern wall of the Al-Aqsa compound, witnesses said.
Hassan Suliman Abu Madam, from the largely Bedouin city of Rahat in the Negev, climbed the compound wall and asked a friend to take a picture of him to commemorate Laylat al-Qadr.
Abu Madam fell 30 meters and died instantly. His body was taken to al-Maqased hospital in al-Tur.
Tens of thousands of Palestinian worshipers visited Al-Aqsa mosque on Sunday to mark one of the holiest nights of Ramadan.
Laylat al-Qadr marks the anniversary of the night when Muslims believe the Quran was first revealed to the prophet Muhammad.
